At just past the midway point of the season, there is an undefeated team and an unbeaten team left. Would it stay that way or would the other teams have other plans up their sleeves? On a cool night at Mosswood Park in Oakland, the red rubber ball was once again flying. How would the Oktoberfest theme affect the kickballers on this night?

Toot It and Boot It defeats Almo$t Cla$$y, 4-2

The battle between two veteran teams in the first came down to one inning, the first. Toot It and Boot It jumped all over Almo$t Cla$$y, plating four runs in the bottom of the first using excellent kicks and bunts to find holes in Almo$t Cla$$y defense. After that, Almo$t Cla$$y locked in and didn’t allow a run the rest of the game. Not going down without a fight however Almo$t Cla$$y picked up a run in the fourth and another in the fifth to cut Toot It’s lead in half. However, in the sixth Almo$t Cla$$y would go down quickly and Toot It and Boot It secured the 4-2 win. In Week 6, Toot It and Boot It looks to defeat Pitches be Trippin’, while Almo$t Cla$$y looks to bounce back with a win against Rosé Riveters.

Pitches Be Trippin’ drops Rosé Riveters, 6-2

The battle between Pitches be Trippin’ and Rosé Riveters was a good one in the outfield grass. Pitches got their offense going early on plating a pair in the second and two more in the third. Rosé on the other hand had chances in the second and the fourth, but could not get any runs in. Pitches added a three run homer in the fifth to take a commanding 6-0 lead. Down to their last kick in the bottom of the sixth inning Rosé got on the board when a two run home run was launched deep into the Oakland night to cut Pitches lead to 6-2. Rosé however could not muster anymore runs for the comeback and Pitches secured the 6-2 victory. In Week 6, Pitches Be Trippin will look to defeat Toot It and Boot It, while Rosé Riveters looks to take down Almo$t Cla$$y.

Welcome to Death Row escapes Dad Bods, 6-5 to stay unbeaten

When both teams are playing cup in hand, you get an entertaining game, with many twists and turns. In the first inning, Dad Bods and Welcome to Death Row both found holes in each others defense and we were knotted at three after one. In the second inning Dad Bods took a 5-3 lead by loading the bases with one out and a single and a sacrifice fly. For the next two innings, the defenses stepped up and held the other team scoreless. In the bottom of the fourth, Welcome to Death Row kicked back to back doubles and then two kickers later, tied the score at 5. After another single, Death Row had the lead 6-5. With the fifth inning the last inning due to time, Dad Bods had one last shot. After a one out single, Dad Bods kicked a ball to left field, but the fielder made an outstanding sliding catch, with beverage contents flying everywhere. After a walk put runners at first and second, a kick to the outfield and Dad Bods looked to have tied it, but a great relay through home from right field nailed the runner at home plate and Welcome to Death Row remained unbeaten. In Week 6, Welcome to Death Row looks to take down undefeated Wrecking Balls, while Dad Bods looks to bounce back with a win against The Green Grenades.

Wrecking Balls pulls away late from 2 Legit 2 Kick, 4-2 to stay undefeated

A pair of veteran teams faced off in the dirt to lead off the late slate and this could potentially be a late round playoff preview.  Pitching and defense was the story in this game where opportunities were few and far between. With the score knotted at one, the wreckers took a 3-1 lead on some excellent bunts and place kicking. 2 Legit squeezed a run across using the same thing.  Wrecking Balls then picked up an insurance run to extend their lead and they would need it. 2 Legit in the sixth had a last chance and cut the Balls lead to 4-2 quickly. However, with the tying run on base, Wrecking Balls closed out the win. In Week 6, Wrecking Balls looks to stay undefeated by beating unbeaten Welcome to Death Row, while 2 Legit 2 Kick looks to bounce back with a win against Don’t Mosswood Us

Green Grenades defeats Don’t Mosswood Us, 6-1

Veteran Green Grenades and new team Don’t Mosswood Us looked to be a big mismatch on paper, but this is why they play the games. Green Grenades jumped out to an early lead in the 1st inning, plating 4 runs off well placed kicks, and a 3 run homer to right field. Green Grenades continued to get multiple runners on base however they had difficulty getting them across the plate in the 2nd, and 3rd innings. Don’t Mosswood Us played great defense in the outfield saving some potential home runs. In the 6th, Mosswood’s leadoff kicker blasted a ball all the way to the big tree in left field for a triple. They were then able to get that run across with 2 outs remaining, however left 2 runners stranded on base to end the game. In Week 6, Green Grenades looks to defeat Dad Bods, while Don’t Mosswood Us looks to take down 2 Legit 2 Kick.

Bar Report

Finally, King of the Hill was back and the battle was down to a pair of Wrecking Balls, Johnathan N. and Eric D. with Johnathan taking the crown. As for the rest of the evening, you can use your imagination on how it went, but pardon our language with this quote… “Bar was a shitshow. Lots of people. The end.”

Stay tuned for next week…….It can’t get any worse can it?
